Some web based M365 apps do not have a corresponding desktop application.  This makes it difficult to do things like pin these apps to the taskbar for easy access.  The following demonstrates how to work around this and allow these to show up on the taskbar as independent apps.

  1. Open the Edge web browser and navigate to the web application that you want to install
  2. Click the three dots ("...") in the upper right corner of the browser window, click "Apps" from the menu, and then click "Install this site as an app"

Open a new browser window and navigate to "edge://apps/all" where you will see a list of installed web apps

Click the "Pin to taskbar" link under the app and then respond to the prompt asking you to confirm the action

Now the app shows up on your taskbar the same as other installed apps

As a bonus, when you log into another Windows computer using the same profile, you can simply add all of your installed web apps using the following instructions...

  1. Open up the Edge browser and then navigate to the following URL:  edge://apps/installed
  2. Look for your app listed under the "Apps on other devices" grouping and click Install to install this locally
  3. Once installed, you will have the option to pin this app
