When attempting to do an IFC Export when in Revit (can be any version), Revit closes unexpectedly.

Complete the following steps to resolve:

The specific add-in causing the issue is yet to be determined (if that is even the issue) however, it was determined that if the following steps are performed, then the IFC Exporter will continue to work even with all add-ins in place. It simply needs to be activated one time to continue to work.

  • With Revit closed, rename the C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\*version* folder to old*version* (for example, rename the 2021 folder to old2021)
  • Open Revit *version*
  • When Revit opens, open one of the sample files and go to FileExportIFC Export
  • The IFC Export window will open (it is NOT necessary to complete an export)
  • Close the Export window, close the model and then close Revit
  • Delete the empty *version* folder created under C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins when Revit *version* opened
  • Rename the old*version* folder to it's original name (for example, rename the old2021 folder back to 2021)
  • Open Revit *version* and all of the add-ins should be restored and the IFC Exporter should now work as expected
