ProjectWise is a suite of engineering project collaboration software from Bentley Systems designed for the architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) industries. It helps project teams to manage, share and distribute engineering project content and review in a single platform. While ProjectWise can manage any type of CADBIMgeospatial and project data, it integrates with Bentley applications, and other products including Autodesk software and Microsoft Office.

ProjectWise is generally used by our LAN employees although there is some use by LAD employees as well. Most of the detailed usage you will utilize will be explained in greater depth by your supervisor or colleagues. But we want to give a brief overview of initial set up and signing in as there are some items that may need completed and fields that can create minor issues logging into the program.

Following will be a few screenshots and instructions on the set up and log in process.

Before opening ProjectWise for the first time, make sure it is activated for your profile. To do this open file explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\ProjectWise\bin . Inside this folder is an application file called ActivationWizard.exe. Run this application, the only entry you will need to change is the country the program is being used in, everything else will be click ok or continue. When it finishes you will see the activation was successful and you can close out of the Activation Wizard.

When you first open ProjectWise it will load the sign in box

This is not the correct setting however. The drop down for Authentication should not be ProjectWise and rather should be Bentley IMS

When this setting is chosen it will grey out the User Name and Password fields but will make the Log In option available. The reason for this is because when you click Log In it will prompt the Bentley Connection Client program to open and allow the user to Log In to the Bentley Server

Your sign in for Bentley Connection Client is your company email address

At this point ProjectWise will open to this screen

Click the dropdown folder for Leo A Daly Prod and projects will be listed!

Please also remember that all documents will be checked out when opening the document, and must be checked in when not working on it. You can’t just close down or shut off, the process for checking in a document must be completed!

If you close the document directly, you will receive the above popup (you may receive one before this if you have made changes asking to save the changes). Make sure to click the Check In option.

If you have any documents open from Projectwise and attempt to close the PW program without checking in the document/s you will receive this popup which lists all open documents associated with PW. Right click on each document and you will be presented with the option to check in from that point.
