Solution found is changing a setting in the Remote Desktop Connection Client
Open Remote Desktop Connection and click on "Show Options" at the bottom left
Open the "Experience" tab found at the top of Remote Desktop Connection Client window
Uncheck "Persistent bitmap caching" found near the bottom left of the window
Click "Hide Options" in the bottom left of the window
Connect to remote computer as normal to test functionality.
