Problem

User does not see the Vehicle Tracking menu or ribbon in Civil 3D after it is installed

Solution

If Autodesk Vehicle Tracking (AVT) is installed correctly (from Software Center and after C3D has been installed) use Solution 1 below. If that does not work (see indicators below), use Software Center to Uninstall AVT, clear the SC cache and then reinstall from Software Center

Solution 1

  1. Open the relevant version of Civil 3D
  2. Type NETLOAD command, load C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Vehicle Tracking *version*\atrcXXX_ARX.dll
  3. Type VEHICLETRACKING into the command line. Alternatively, type SHOWVEHICLETRACKINGRIBBON (if the ribbon is still not displayed).
  4. The command should load the menus.
  5. Getting Started dialog box
  6. Check the “Do not show this dialog in future at startup” box located in the lower left as shown below

Solution 2

  1. If when you try to enter VEHICLETRACKING (#3 in Solution 1) at the command line and you start to get multiple command choices, then this indicates that AVT is probably not installed correctly
  2. use Software Center to Uninstall AVT
  3. use Add/Remove Programs (ARP) to clear the SC cache
  4. reinstall from Software Center
