How to Resolve Revit error “Revit cannot run the external application “LAD_Revit_Apps. Information they provided to Revit…”



This error is caused when the Leo A Daly Utilities for Revit (8.03) gets installed with Revit open.

To resolve this error, take the following steps…


  1. Have user log out of Windows on the problem system
  2. Remote in using RDP or access directly if local
  3. Make sure the user is logged off and Revit is closed (use Task Manager)
  4. Open ARP (Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel) and uninstall LAD Revit 2018 Utilities Install
  5. Reinstall LAD Revit 2018 Utilities 8.03 from either Software Center, by browsing the CCMCache folder under C:\Windows or by running the installation script (not the .exe) from the Software share. NOTE: if using either of the latter 2 options, use the script with ‘…SCCM’ in the name.


Make sure to open Revit 2018 to confirm the error has been corrected before releasing back to the user
