What they are:

Autodesk Cloud Credits are the unit of measurement required to perform certain tasks, such as creating a rendering, running a simulation, or setting up a generative study in a cloud environment using Autodesk cloud services.

Usage:

As part of our licensing contract with Autodesk, each employee who is correctly (see below) registered with our Autodesk account has 100 cloud credits by default. Cloud Credits are per individual EXCEPT after a user utilizes all of their credits and requires that additional credits be purchased. When additional credits are purchased, they become shared among all who have used their initial compliment of credits. This is across all offices and all users.

Registration:

  1. As this time, Autodesk accounts are not created by default as part of the new hire process. Our Autodesk account managers are Kevin Busacker and Chuck Joines. They can check to see if a user has an account under our contract and add them if needed. Please provide the user’s name and email address.
  2. Once their account is created, they will receive an email from Autodesk (I have seen that most of the time these end up in Spam email and will have to be released from Ironport by the user.
  3. When they complete the registration, they will have access to their provided cloud credits as well as other benefits (email support direct with Autodesk, downloads of our currently available suites for home use licensing (see separate KB article #10423 for this information)

Purchase of additional credits:

Once a user has exhausted their individual credits, additional credits can be purchased (in blocks of 100 credits) through ImaginiT as they are our Autodesk reseller. To purchase, request a quote from ImaginiT for the desired number of credits and proceed through our normal purchase process. Once approved and purchased, it will usually take an additional day or two for Autodesk to apply the credits.

Notes:

When additional credits are purchased, they become shared among all who have used their initial compliment of credits. This is across all offices and all users. Autodesk has no method in place to specify where they are applied.

Expediting the purchase of additional cloud credits is difficult at best, so proper planning should be observed. 5-7 days should be allowed for the complete process.
