1. Ensure your laptop is connected to a wireless network other than LAD-LAN.  Note: With exception to LAD-LAN, treat all wireless networks (including LAD-LAN-Guest) as untrusted networks when using LAD/LAN owned PCs.  
  2. Locate the FortiClient icon in the lower right-hand corner of your desktop.
  3. Right click the FortiClient icon, and select LAD-LAN Data Center VPN.
  4. In the Authentication Information window, enter your Windows Login Username (without domain) and Password. Then select Connect. Optional: Check “Auto Connect” to reconnect to this particular VPN whenever you are not connected to the company network.
  5. If you already had an active VPN session that was ended due to WiFi connectivity changes, you may see following dialog. Select OK
  6. If you receive the notification on the right, click OK. Double check your internet connection then repeat steps 3 and
  7. Your PC is connected to the VPN once you receive the following notification and the FortiClient icon has a gold padlock. Once connected, the FortiClient will also map your network drives automatically (no intervention needed). 

Disconnecting from the VPN

  1. Locate the FortiClient icon in the lower right-hand corner of your desktop.
  2. Right click the FortiClient icon, and select Disconnect.  
  3. You will receive the following notification once the VPN has been disconnected.
