QUESTION
Why do I receive a bug splat on a single users workstation when I click Add files in the file transfer dialogue in any project?
The Bug Splat crash report generates the error:
System.FormatException: Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes (xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx).
ANSWER
There is invalid or corrupted registry key information in the user's Newforma profile. Recreate the Newforma profile to resolve the issue.
To resolve the issue
Here is the process to safely remove and recreate the Newforma user's profile on a computer:
- Log onto the users computer with the account having the issue (Make sure the user has admin rights on the computer).
- Open the registry an go to \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Newforma
- IMPORTANT: Right click on the Newforma key and choose the option to export, export the key to a safe place in case the key needs to be restored.
- Go back to the Newforma key, right click on the Newforma key and select Delete.
- Close the registry editor and have the user log out.
- Have the user log in and launch Newforma, it may prompt the user to enter their information. Have them enter the info.
Test to validate that the issue with the corrupt profile is resolved.
