Solutions

A few users have reported performance issues after upgrading to Revu 2016 or 2017, or after installing Windows Updates. The settings and updates below have helped other users, and may also improve performance on your computer. They’re listed in order of the simple to more complicated. Please try them in order.

1. Change the Rendering Style in Revu:

The Wait for completion Rendering Style disables partial redrawing of the display. Instead, the screen will not update until the full page is ready to display.

1.In Revu, click Settings > Preferences or press Ctrl+K.

2.Click Rendering on the left.

3.Select Wait for completion in the Rendering Style dropdown menu and click OK.

How this helps:

·Reduces the total amount of time to redraw the PDF page by avoiding temporary redraws.

·Reduces time to redraw the PDF page on 4K and high-resolution displays.

2. Change the power settings in Windows:

Aggressive power saving settings sacrifice display performance in order to reduce power consumption and extend battery life. They affect both laptops and desktops.

1.Click Start, type power settings and select Power & sleep settings.

2.Click Additional power settings at the bottom, which will open the Power Options in the Control Panel.

3.Click the arrow to the left of Show additional plans to display the hidden plans.

4.Select the High performance or Maximum performance.

How this helps:

·Improves display performance by increasing the resources Windows provides to the GPU.

If you’re using a laptop, this change will reduce your battery life. You may want to return to your original settings if this doesn’t improve your performance in Revu.

3. Update the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable:

Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3. This includes updates that will improve Revu’s display performance.

How this helps:

·PDFs with large images, such as scans, will display faster.

4. Update the Microsoft .NET Framework

Install the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.2, if you are using Windows 7 SP1, 8.1 or 10 (below Creators Update version 1107). This .NET version contains performance improvements over previous versions. Click here to find which Windows version you’re running.

Save your work and close all programs before starting the installation. A restart of Windows is often required when the installation completes and you should restart even if you’re not prompted to do so.

The .NET Framework installation will take a few minutes to complete.

How this helps:

·Documents open faster.

·General performance and responsiveness of program and interface performance.

If none of the above steps improve your performance, please contact the Support team so we can help identify the problem. You’ll get the fastest resolution by opening Revu and clicking Help > Contact > Technical Support. This attaches the Revu log files and settings to a new email message.

Before clicking Send, include a detailed description about the type of issue you’re having, attach relevant sample files and answer the questions below. This will help us identify the cause more quickly.

·How much RAM does this computer have?

·Are you accessing the files locally or across a network?

·Do you have multiple monitors?

Are you using a high resolution monitor, such as a 4K display?
